Our clients wanted to inject character creating a contemporary home within their traditional Victorian terraced house, simultaneously preserving the many existing features.
Inherited with a standard formation room layout, the house provided the perfect blank canvas to start a complete transformation. Digging out the basement, creating an open plan lounge, dining kitchen, and new garden terrace converted their home into their desired high end dwelling with luxurious fixtures and fittings.
The newly created stairwell links all new floors above with a vertical brass balustrade - capturing and celebrating natural light was at the core of our concept and material choices, flooding the space with light from all aspects.
A new Master bedroom, en suite, and guest bedrooms were formed each with it's own character and design. We opted for black Venetian polished plaster in the Master bedroom for a moodier feel.
The scheme intended to provide a new series of open-plan spaces and a new basement-level gym. We designed all the spaces to be visually linked, with layers of varying texture, warmth, and finishes.
We introduced some striking new Terrazzo finishes and more subtle marble worktops to allow for a classic Victorian sense, whilst still creating an entirely modern space, reflecting our clients' personalities and love of luxury.
Materiality and a keen eye on detailing further improve the flow between the new set of spaces, with consistency in colour and finishes between differentiating rooms.
Our client’s emphasis on creating natural light-filled spaces and clarity in materials for their new home spirited Scarinish to create a design with strong visual connections between spaces and introduce a calm textural palette which will patina over time.
Scarinish specified and supplied full design services, furniture, lighting, finishes specifications & garden designs.
