D'usse Cognac

Château du Cognac, France

Scarinish was invited to pitch on transforming Château du Cognac into a premium brand experience for D’USSÉ Cognac, celebrating the house’s rich heritage while creating an immersive journey for connoisseurs and brand enthusiasts.

Founded by Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter and crafted by master cellar Michel Casavecchia, D’USSÉ combines heritage, expertise, and bold innovation at one of France’s oldest Cognac houses.

Our concept explored the dialogue between history and modernity, blending the grandeur of the Château with contemporary design to showcase D’USSÉ’s craftsmanship. Carefully considered spatial planning, materials, and storytelling imagined an experience spanning tasting rooms, bars, private events, and retail.

We won the pitch, but the project ultimately did not proceed, showcasing Scarinish’s ability to deliver premium, engaging brand experiences.

Downpour — the distillery’s award-winning gin — draws inspiration from the dramatic Hebridean weather and bold island flavours. Designed by Jam Hot, its creative identity centres on the evocative line “Drenched in Island Flavour.” Scarinish builds on this foundation, shaping environments that connect people, place, and product through considered, crafted design.

As renovation nears completion, the whisky stills are installed and the first casks filled — marking a new chapter for North Uist Distillery. Within its weathered stone walls, guests will find a working distillery, tasting room, bar, and immersive retail experience that reflect the warmth of island hospitality.

Inverurie Single
Estate Distillery

Ambitious plans are underway to transform the historic Home Farm Stables at Kemnay into Scotland’s first Estate Single Estate Scotch Whisky Distillery. This sensitive restoration and bold reinvention will revive the Grade II listed building, creating one of the world’s most sustainable distilleries.

Scarinish is working with the distillery team to design a brand home and visitor experience that captures the spirit of the estate — from the fields to the glass. The distillery will produce small-batch whiskies that showcase the distinct character of local grain and water, while the wider estate offers luxury accommodation, fine and Michelin star dining, outdoor swimming, fishing, shooting, yoga, weddings, and events — a truly immersive destination.

Blending heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability, Inverurie Single Estate Distillery will firmly place the estate on the whisky map.

The Glendronach Distillery Redevelopment

Aberdeenshire

Founded in 1826, The Glendronach Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest licensed distilleries and a celebrated cornerstone of the nation’s whisky heritage. Nestled in the tranquil Forgue valley, its stone buildings, mature landscape, and close ties to surrounding farmland have shaped nearly two centuries of whisky-making.

Renowned for its sherry cask-matured single malts and dedication to time-honoured methods, Glendronach enjoys a prominent place in Scotland and across the globe.

Since 2020, Scarinish has been part of a wider redevelopment strategy, collaborating with Brown-Forman, Loader Monteith Architects, and the wider project team to transform Boynesmill House, create a distinct retail and tasting experience, and deliver a next-generation visitor journey. The project enhances sustainability and accessibility while safeguarding the historic fabric of the distillery.

Phase 1, underway, focuses on restoring Boynesmill House, the founder’s home, into a welcoming visitor experience. Phase 2, approved in May 2025, will deliver a new visitor centre, complete with a tasting bar and an immersive warehouse experience, offering guests a fully engaging journey through Glendronach’s whisky-making heritage.

Other highlights include improved landscaping for accessibility and biodiversity, flood-risk mitigation, and support for the distillery’s low-carbon, centralised heat network. Balancing heritage and innovation, the redevelopment preserves Glendronach’s history while offering an immersive visitor experience. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion by mid-2026.
