FINALIST - 2017 INTERIOR DESIGN - “RESTAURANT AND BAR” AWARDS
“OpenTable Diners choice ” AWARD 2019
Housed in the unique subterranean environment of 1a Pudding Lane, our Mber concept is diverse whilst respecting the heritage of Pudding Lane and the great fire of London.
We exposed internal walls and existing steel riveted columns and beams and weaved dining benches, seating and a new central bar and gantry around the existing patina steel structures holding the building above.
These in themselves were very industrial core elements which were embraced, carefully weaving the design scheme around.
Craft, harmony and a delicate balance between built form and natural materials underpin our concept for Mber
Warm timber tables tops, elm slabs from Loch Fyne in Scotland, create an intimate and natural dining environment, with flickering candlelight by night.
Patrons have the flexibility to dine and drink in the casual restaurant space, a series of private dining spaces or the cosy surrounding of the cocktail bar with its deep fluted bar banquettes.
A striking slatted ebonised oak slatted ceiling was detailed to contrast the concrete ceiling above and charred Shou-Sugi-Ban timber adorns the walls in the entrance lobby, a subtle reference to the great fire.
