Pizza Punks is a pizza shop in the heart of Grey Street in Newcastle. The client wanted to create a vibrant and distinctive space with its neon signage and graffiti and bright high contrast tiled interior. The interor is designed to be a part of the heritage of the citys night time scene.
The client wanted to create a distinctive and characterful space that referenced both New York and London. Its neon signage and the bright tiled interior is designed to be part of the night time street scene to sit within, and celebrate its location on Grey Street.
A long Herringbone tiled Pizza counter runs through the restaurant, connecting the street with the bar at the end of the interior.
The interior design pays respect to the building’s industrial roots, with exposed concrete walls and exposed beams, pipes and pillars were revealed within the down takings.
Where possible, existing finishes were cleaned, sealed and retained for re-use.
A new wall of street windows was added to increase the natural light from the street and create a better connection with the street.
The open kitchen counter and views to the imported Italian Pizza Oven allows diners to see into the pizza ovens and creates a focal point within the environment.
